Installation, updates and switching instructionsThe direct edition currently has no in-app updater. Downloading the latest disk image is the update path. A normal update does not require a new purchase.
New downloads are currently unavailable. Existing customers can look for PressSpeak in their Mac App Store purchase history using the original Apple Account. If it is available there, install or update it through the Mac App Store and use Restore Purchase in PressSpeak. Contact support if it is missing.
An Apple Core Lifetime purchase belongs to the Mac App Store edition and is restored through Apple. A direct purchase is verified through Stripe and the direct app’s installation identity on your Mac. The direct app does not restore Apple purchases, and the App Store app does not activate Stripe purchases.
There is no automatic purchase transfer between editions. We have not announced cross-edition upgrade pricing, discounts or a free license exchange. If you already paid, contact us before paying again and include which edition you purchased and the receipt. Do not send card details.
A fresh Mac or a missing local direct license may need support recovery. Do not assume signing in to an Apple Account or using the same checkout email automatically activates the other edition.
Both editions currently use the same app identity and the same PressSpeak.app name. Treat switching as replacing the app. Do not run both copies or keep one running from a disk image.
Do not delete your Keychain items or app data to switch. Trial and purchase records are separate by edition. A switch is not a promise of a new trial or a free upgrade.
Neither edition keeps a transcript history. Temporary recordings are deleted after transcription or cancellation, so there is no recording library to transfer. The model is included with each app.
The App Store sandbox and direct app can store preferences in different locations. There is no automatic settings migration between editions. Your local purchase and trial records use separate Keychain storage; replacing an installer does not merge them.
The App Store edition leaves the transcript on your clipboard for you to paste. The direct edition restores the previous clipboard after automatic insertion when possible, and leaves text copied if insertion is blocked. Manage your system clipboard separately if it contains sensitive text.
